Global Communication. Measurable Climate Action.
When global organisations think about inclusive communication, they turn to KUDO Inc. Founded in 2017, the New York-based technology company enables real-time multilingual communication across virtual, hybrid, and in-person meetings. Supporting over 100 spoken and 147 sign languages, and integrating seamlessly with platforms such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom, KUDO is transforming how the world connects by breaking down language barriers.
As the organisation continued to scale internationally, its leadership recognised the importance of embedding sustainability into its long-term strategy. Growth and global impact needed to be matched with environmental responsibility. To ensure credibility, transparency, and alignment with international best practice, KUDO partnered with Carbonfit to conduct a comprehensive carbon footprint assessment and develop a formal Carbon Reduction Plan.
Working in accordance with ISO 14064-1,SBTi and the GHG Protocol standards , Carbonfit supported KUDO in establishing a clear baseline emissions profile for FY2022 and defining a structured pathway towards Net Zero across Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions. Using internationally recognised reporting methodologies, the process provided both clarity and accountability. KUDO has formally committed to achieving Net Zero by 2050 or sooner, with ambitions aligned to Science Based Targets principles.
The results of this partnership have been significant, KUDO reduced its total emissions by 82%. Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions were eliminated entirely, following a strategic transition to fully remote operations which removed direct fuel use and purchased electricity associated with physical office space. These emissions now sit at 0 tCO₂e, with a commitment to maintain this position year on year. Scope 3 emissions have also fallen by 65%, demonstrating that KUDO operational decisions, can deliver meaningful and measurable impact.
KUDO understands that achieving Net Zero is not a one-time milestone but an ongoing process and commitment. With Scope 1 and 2 addressed, the organisation is now focusing its attention on Scope 3 emissions; particularly those linked to business travel and remote working.
Plans are in place already for FY 26 with initiatives including:
- Prioritising sustainable business travel and a policy for travel only as necessary
- Encouraging renewable electricity use among remote staff
- To complete a full Scope 3 inventory
- Engage the supply chain in meaningful emissions reductions.
- Review near- and long-term reduction targets set annually
To support cultural alignment alongside operational progress, KUDO has also established an internal Green Team to promote awareness, track progress, and embed sustainability into everyday decision-making. This ensures that carbon reduction is not siloed within reporting processes but integrated across the organisation.
KUDO’s journey demonstrates what is possible when climate ambition is matched with structured expertise. By combining operational strategy with robust carbon accounting and governance, the organisation has achieved rapid emissions reductions while strengthening its long-term resilience and credibility.
For organisations looking to move beyond reporting and into real, measurable progress, KUDO provides a powerful example of what focused, data-led action can achieve.
