A carbon footprint is the total amount of greenhouse gases, particularly carbon dioxide (CO2) and other carbon compounds, that are emitted directly or indirectly by an individual, organisation, event, or product throughout it’s lifecycle. It is usually measured in equivalent tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) to account for the varying global warming potential of different greenhouse gases.
Scope 1 covers direct emissions emitted from an individual or organisation. These include emissions from sources that are owned or controlled by the entity, such as on-site fuel combustion, industrial processes and transportation. Scope 2 covers indirect emissions from energy use. Scope 2 emissions associated with the production of the electricity, heat, or steam that an entity consumes. This includes emissions from purchased electricity. Scope 3 is where it can get tricky! Scope 3 covers indirect emissions from the supply chain and other sources. These emissions include emissions from sources not owned or controlled bythe reporting entity but are associated with its activities, including upstream and downstream emissions in the supply chain, business travel, employee commuting and the end-of-life treatment of products. Scope 3 is split up into 15 categories.

It demonstrates your commitment to sustainability, helping you navigate changing regulations and attract environmentally conscious customers.
